It’s that time of the year again. The one where we all wish each other a ‘happy new year’, knowing that we can’t possibly guarantee the next 365 days are going to be happy. Let’s face it; ‘survive a new year’ would be much realistic. I know, I’m probably sounding a bit pessimistic and whilst optimism is extremely powerful and releasing good energy into the universe is certainly important. It’s much better to be realistic in this particular case.
We can never appreciate the good things if the bad never happened. Mistakes will be made, things won’t always go the way we planned and some days we will just want to wrap ourselves in a cocoon of blankets and stay in bed all day. Or all week… Understanding and embracing this is perhaps the biggest lesson I’ve learnt throughout 2016. Of course, I’ve always been aware of this. However, this past year has given me obstacles which have resulted in this important lesson really sinking in. There’s been a lot of self discovery, soul searching and seeking answers to questions I’ve been asking for far too long.
It’s been a whirlwind of a year, from becoming vegan and a part of the biggest movement of our generation, in turn relaunching The Whimsical Wildling, to starting my last year of University. The latter resulting in lots of anxiety and concerns that I won’t reach my goals and ambitions. However, I know that if you work hard to climb that ladder, channeling determination and perseverance with every step, you can reach the top.
I’ve put together a compilation of photos from my blog this past year (click on each photo to discover the post).
I think it’s so important to take this time to reflect on the last 366 days, to ensure you don’t forget any lessons life has taught you. To take a moment to look back and then… to move forward.
May 2017 be filled with magic. dreams and that good sort of madness. I
hope you read some beautiful books and kiss someone who thinks you’re
wonderful. Don’t forget to make some art – write, draw, build, sing or
live as only you can. Oh. I hope somewhere in the next year, you
surprise yourself, conquer your fears and find success. Happy new year Wildlings!
